By applying for and using a .ngo.us domain, you agree to abide by the following terms and conditions. These terms are designed to maintain the integrity of the .ngo.us namespace and ensure it remains dedicated to legitimate nonprofit organizations.

1. Domain Eligibility

1.1. Nonprofit Status

The .ngo.us registry is exclusively for nonprofit, nongovernmental organizations and initiatives. All applicants must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in our verification guidelines.

1.2. Prohibited Uses

The .ngo.us domain may not be used for:

  • Commercial purposes
  • Governmental activities
  • Personal websites unrelated to nonprofit work
  • Any illegal activities
  • Content that promotes hate, discrimination, or violence

2. Registration and Renewal

2.1. Registration Process

All domains must be registered through an accredited registrar and undergo our verification process before activation.

2.2. Fees

  • Initial registration requires a one-time fee
  • No renewal fees are charged, but annual renewal is still required
  • Fees are non-refundable if your application is rejected due to ineligibility

2.3. Renewal Obligations

Domain holders must:

  • Complete the annual renewal process
  • Maintain current contact information
  • Continue to meet eligibility requirements
  • Use the domain in accordance with these terms

3. Registry Rights

3.1. Right to Refuse

The NGO.US Registry reserves the right to refuse registration to any organization that:

  • Does not meet eligibility requirements
  • Has previously violated these terms
  • Appears to be applying in bad faith

3.2. Right to Suspend or Terminate

The NGO.US Registry may suspend or terminate any domain that:

  • No longer meets eligibility requirements
  • Violates these terms of service
  • Remains inactive for an extended period
  • Is used for purposes inconsistent with nonprofit operations

4. Registrant Obligations

4.1. Accuracy of Information

Registrants must:

  • Provide accurate and complete information during application
  • Update contact information when changes occur
  • Respond to verification requests in a timely manner

4.2. Domain Management

Registrants are responsible for:

  • Proper DNS configuration
  • Website content and security
  • Compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Annual renewal even when no fee is required

5. Disclaimer

5.1. ICANN Status

The .ngo.us registry is not an ICANN-accredited Top-Level Domain (TLD). We operate independently as a community-driven registry.

5.2. Mozilla PSL

Our domain is included in the Mozilla Public Suffix List (PSL), which enhances security by ensuring domains are treated independently by browsers.

5.3. No Warranty

The NGO.US Registry provides its services "as is" without any warranty of any kind, either express or implied.

6. Modifications to Terms

The NGO.US Registry reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Significant changes will be communicated to registrants via email.
